A day of inspirational talks and some fantastic networking opportunities...

Another great day of networking and learning

It was our first time at The Southampton Business Show today, and I'd like to start this blog with a round of applause to Matthew Larcome and Memo Events, for putting on a fantastic event...

Pete practicing his cricket stance

The Ageas Bowl was a great place to host the event; the stands and presentation area were housed within the cricket training hall but it was also fun to have a walk round the cricket club after the event too (as you can see I didn't take my cricket stance too seriously).

Having visited the Portsmouth Expo in Summer and the Basingstoke Expo in Spring, I would easily conclude that this was the best business event to date hosted by Memo Events. The room was buzzing with positivity and there was an extremely good turn out! it was great to meet so many new friends and great to meet up with a number of current clients and old friends (who we hope to be clients in time too).

The Keynote Speakers

Both Stuart and I enjoyed the afternoon speakers, who both had a slightly different interpretation on what it takes to be successful. Brad Burton (@BradBurton), creator of 4Networking, began with what I thought was going to be a standard, loud and fun motivational talk, but which actually turned out to be an incredibly insightful commentary on his life and the importance of achieving a healthy work life balance (honest, it can be done).

Following Brad, was Neil Clough (@NeilWClough), Entrepreneur and Sales Person from BBC's The Apprentice who talked about the importance of staying true to yourself, following your own dreams and aspirations. Both speakers were insightful and well practiced so I'd recommend seeing either of them should you get the opportunity in future.

For those of you who weren't able to make it this year, I'd strongly advise attending one of the future events (such as Basinstoke, Portsmouth or the new West Sussex event next year). A great day - I hope all that attended got as much out of it as we did.
