Director
Stu balances commercial direction with hands-on technical expertise. From AI to servers, he delivers secure solutions clients rely on.
As Owner and Director, Stu co-founded Serenity with Pete in 2012. Stu’s background is deeply rooted in hands-on technical work in software development, server management and internal IT which he balances alongside the commercial duties of running a business.
Day to day, he works closely with Pete on the strategic direction of the business, which might involve shaping new services like our AI Consultancy, building internal software to improve how we work, or forming new client partnerships. He oversees Serenity's web services and IT requirements, including maintaining accreditations like Cyber Essentials Plus. As a leader, he focuses on empowering the team, giving them the trust and autonomy they need to take ownership and build their own expertise. The only fixed point in his busy diary? Walking his dog, Darcey, at lunchtime.
Years of technical experience mean Stuart can look across an entire digital estate or drill down into one specific problem. He brings a refreshing approach to marketing and business strategy: he leads with curiosity, avoids jargon at all costs, and treats his clients like true partners. Always eager to collaborate and learn from others, he prioritises clear communication and transparency. When projects get complicated, his clients and colleagues know they can rely on his incredibly calm and level-headed demeanor.
“We started the business in 2012 and the part I enjoy most is still seeing other people succeed, especially when they step outside their comfort zone. When the team organises things off their own back, like baking treats or a night out and I do not need to be involved, it is just lovely to see.”
Stuart gets pulled in whenever something technical needs unpicking. If it involves servers, IT, domains and DNS, email, devices, code, or technical consulting, he is usually the person in the room.
If you’re experiencing:
Frequent downtime, slow loading speeds, or security compromises.
Friction caused by software that fails to integrate, forcing tedious manual data rekeying.
Hesitation around distinguishing genuine business value from market hype.
Complex email, DNS or device issues that exceed internal technical capabilities.
“I am a doer. Documentation is not my favourite thing, I would far rather get stuck in and fix the problem. I love the technical side, but the best bit is the impact, someone has one less thing to worry about.”
Managing Serenity’s multi-server fleet, covering performance, uptime, patching, and migrations, so client sites stay fast and secure.
Internal IT across devices, networking and systems, including Cyber Essentials Plus, alongside providing advice for clients on tightening up their own setups.
Helping SMEs work out where AI and automation add real value, then building the practical bits rather than just handing over a strategy document.
Building internal tools for the team and seamlessly connecting systems that were never designed to talk to each other, such as CRMs and back-office platforms.
Away from the servers, Stu is usually on the move. He is at his happiest traveling with his wife, Rhiannon, or clocking miles with their dog, Darcey, which has become a daily ritual that doubles as his best strategic thinking time. A competitive runner and Hyrox athlete, Stu races several times a year, recently tackling both the London 10k and a demanding Hyrox Pro event in Barcelona. He also uses his passion for strength and endurance to raise money for charity whenever his race calendar allows.
Behind the scenes, his mindset is built on consistency over intensity. His day typically kicks off at 6am with a training session, setting a disciplined rhythm before the workday even begins. Whether he is tracking the latest F1 race or keeping music playing through the house all day, he brings a focused energy to everything he pursues. It is exactly this blend of daily discipline, quiet endurance, and level-headed problem-solving that makes him such a reassuring anchor for the team and clients at Serenity.
“I train most mornings at six and it is the consistency I love more than any single session. I am competitive, but only with myself. Doing hard things regularly builds a bit of mental strength, so when something goes wrong at work I tend not to panic.”
